Dr. Matthew Smith graduated from the Mason City High School in 1979. In 1983 he received a degree in Microbiology at Iowa State University. He then graduated from Iowa State Veterinary College in 1987. In 1988 he opened the Manly Veterinary Clinic, where he practiced for 9 years. He then moved his practice to Mason City’s west side, near Mercy Hospital, where he practiced for 10 years. In the summer of 2006, the Practice was moved to its current and permanent home at 1453 4th St SE in Mason City, near the High School.
Dr. Smith cares for quite a variety of animals at Brookview. Besides dogs and cats, he also treats exotics and pocket pets. Its common to see a hamster, turtle, or a guinea pig at the office.
Dr. Smith has been married to his wife Michelle for many happy years.
They have 2 daughters: Amanda & Cindy. Amanda, a graduate of The University of Iowa lives in Madrid, Spain with her 2 cats. Cindy lives in Manly with her many pets and works at our office as a Vet Assistant.
